Sometimes your dog needs more than a weekly lesson.

Our Board & Train programs provide an intensive jump-start for select puppies and dogs who would benefit from concentrated training, structure, and repetition. Because your dog will be living in our home during training, safety, temperament, and compatibility with our household are important parts of the evaluation.

But there's one important difference between Bakers Acres and a traditional "send your dog away and get a trained dog" program:

Your dog isn't being trained for our house. They're being trained for YOUR life.

That's why every Board & Train program includes owner instruction, in-home training, and continued support after your dog comes home.

Our goal isn't to create a dog who listens beautifully to a trainer but falls apart the moment they walk through your front door.

Your dog lives with you.

So while your dog is staying with us, we're building the skills, habits, and reliability that will make life easier for your entire family. Then we'll teach YOU how to maintain those skills at home.

What can we train for?

Your Board & Train program will be customized around your dog's age, temperament, behavior, and your family's goals.

Depending on your dog's needs, training may include:

For puppies and young dogs, we will build the foundation they'll need as they mature into adulthood.

For families going through a major life change—such as bringing home a new baby or adding a new dog to the household—we can build the training around the new family routine your dog will need to live successfully within.

TWO WAYS TO TRAIN

WELCOME-HOME LESSON

This is one of the most important parts of our program.

Board & Train does not replace training you.

It gives your dog an intensive jump-start—but your dog still has to live with you.

That's why we finish the program with a comprehensive Welcome-Home Lesson.

We'll:

• Assess your dog's progress

• Demonstrate the skills they've learned

• Teach you how to maintain those skills

• Review your household routines

• Establish family expectations

• Identify potential trouble spots

• Create a plan for maintaining your dog's training

• Answer your questions

• Troubleshoot anything that isn't working

You'll leave knowing what your dog knows, what you need to do, and how to keep making progress.

TRAINING DOESN'T END WHEN YOUR DOG COMES HOME.

One of the biggest advantages of the Bakers Acres approach is that we're not disappearing when your Board & Train ends.

Your dog's needs will change as they grow.

Your family will change.

Your environment will change.

And sometimes old behaviors come back.

That's normal.

• Follow-up lessons are included at important milestones (3 months after, 6 months after, and 1 year after) so we can evaluate your dog's progress, address new behaviors, reinforce obedience, and adjust your training plan as your family's needs change.

• Upon successfully completing a board and train, your dog is welcome back for Daycare or Overnight Boarding with the same dedicated trainers who helped select and train your dog thus avoiding noisy, stinky, and scary boarding kennels. Book your dog's next vacay at Bakers Acres!

• Online Classroom access throughout your training program. Download step-by-step training instructions, how-to videos, and printable lesson guides, turn in homework assignments, and watch recorded lessons, classes, and Zoom calls with past clients, and supplement your training at home.

• Open Communication with your trainer throughout the training process and a lifetime of support to the end of your dog’s life.

A Board & Train isn't appropriate for every dog.

Before accepting a dog into a Board & Train program, we'll talk with you about:

• Training history

• The behaviors you're struggling with

• What you expect from a Board & Train program

We'll then determine whether Board & Train is the right tool for your situation—or whether our in-home Training for Life program would serve your family better.
